You submit an application for a temporary residence permit personallyno later than the last day legal stay (link) on the territory of Poland. If you submit your application on time and it will not be in it formal deficiencies or you complete formal deficiencies within the time limit indicated by us, your stay will be legal from the date of submitting the application to the date on which decision on this matter will become final.
A temporary residence permit is granted, refused or revoked province governor appropriate for your place of stay
We grant a temporary residence permit for the period necessary for implementation purpose of your stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland, but not longer than 3 years.
Proxy/delivery
If you go abroad and do not appoint a proxy to conduct the case, you should at least indicate a proxy for service in Poland. If you do not indicate a representative for service, we will leave the letters intended for you in the case files with the effect of delivery.
Inform us about the change of address for correspondence, it will speed up the procedure.
If you appointed proxyattach the original to the documents powers of attorney. If you have more than one attorney, remember to indicate the one about whom we should send correspondence.
Originals/Translations
Submit documents in the original (for inspection) or certified copy. A copy of the document may be authenticated by an employee of the office that accepts the document, then it is stamped and signed accordingly. Authentication can also be performed by, for example, a notary public, as well as a legal adviser/advocate if he is your proxy.
If you submit documents in a foreign language with your application, it is also required to submit a translation of this document into Polish, made by sworn translator.

your university
In order for a full-time study permit to be issued, the unit in which you undertake studies must be approved for the purposes of admitting foreigners and entered on the list of units in the journal of the competent minister. If the unit where you study is an academic, vocational, military, state service university, a university run by churches or religious associations - approval of such a unit and entry on the list will not be required. If you are not sure whether the university to which you have been admitted meets these requirements, please contact the representative of the university (e.g. rector's office, dean's office). We warn against taking up studies at universities that are not qualified to accept students from abroad.

Repeating the year
If you are repeating a year, the voivode may refuse to issue a permit due to the lack of progress in learning. During the proceedings, we will check why you are repeating the year, e.g. whether you attended classes regularly, whether you took exams. Each case is considered individually.
Work during studies
If you are a full-time student, you can work legally, but when applying for a permit due to your studies, remember that we may refuse a permit if there are doubts as to the actual purpose of your stay in Poland.
In the residence card issued in connection with granting a temporary residence permit, the annotation "student" is placed.
Learning progress
The authority will check your progress in learning even after issuing a temporary residence permit, every semester. In the absence of progress in learning, the permit will be withdrawn.
If you have received a temporary residence permit, you are obliged to notify the voivode who granted the permit, within 15 working days, about the cessation of the reason for granting the permit, i.e. resignation from studies. If the temporary residence permit was granted by the Head of the Office for Foreigners in the second instance, the above-mentioned the notification is addressed to the voivode who ruled on granting the permit in the first instance. If you fail to do so, we may refuse you another temporary residence permit.
